FAQ's_____________________________________________________
This is a list of frequently asked questions I thought were important or might be a basis of curiosity. If you'd like to ask or submit a question, feel free to pm a staff member!
Q: Where is Esseria? A: Esseria is located somewhere close to Hawaii - well, the term close is used very loosely. Humans are still unaware of this island, thus making it completely wild in all aspects. Esseria only has one neighboring island, Ellet. It is rumored that these two islands were once a part of Hawaii hundreds of years ago, but separated a little more each year due to a certain drift of the earth's tectonic plates.
Q: Why can I not make a mythical? A: The idea of Esseria is to demonstrate the effects of evolution. The island is the starting point of equine evolution into unicorns, pegasi, and winged unicorns. This creates a challenge to breed and work toward acquiring one of these breeds of horses. And since horses can't actually change, the change must happen between generations. However, staff may rarely post mythical adoptables, so keep your eye out!
Q: If Esseria is so far away from other land, where do the horses come from? A: All horses not born on Esseria must originate from Ellet, Esseria's larger sister island. It is a distant swim, but managable. There's no other place for horses to originate, but Ellet is quite massive and offers plenty of variety, though Ellet does not have mythicals. Mythicals are strictly a part of Esseria.
Q: Can I request my foal be a mythical? A: No, we want things fair. To be fair, we have developed a system. This system will not be bias, and it will always offer everyone a fair chance of producing a mythical. Allowing some people to get mythicals by asking would prevent a fair system. Of course, admins may create mythical characters that are required for important plots and such, but this is rare and not for personal gain.
Q: Does my character know its trait? A: No! In fact, it's unlikely characters even know about traits! There's no scientific research goin on in Esseria, so how would they know about traits?
Q: Will I ever know my character's trait? A: Well, you will not initially know any of your character's traits. Staff handles the organization of traits secretly, and this is to prevent cheating through breeding. We don't want Esseria to become a breeding game. But, upon intuition, it is possible for someone to figure out their character's trait! For example, if a mare gives birth to a unicorn colt, then it is obvious that the mare, as well as the father, has a unicorn trait. Similar observations could lead to reliable conclusions on characters and their traits.
Q: Why do staff get to know their characters traits? That's unfair! A: Well.. considering the fact that the staff works hard to keep all the traits neat and organized, I think they deserve to know. Besides this, how would it be possible for them to do their job and not see the traits list? The staff of Esseria are to be honest and respectful, and they should receive punishment upon any abuse of their power.
Q: Do mythicals look like mythicals when they are born? A: Yes, in some aspects. Unicorns have little nubs on their foreheads when they are first born. The horn itself grows gradually, and is completely finished growing at about three years of age. Pegasi are born with their wings intact, but they cannot fly until about three years of age.
Q: Is there a limit on how many mythicals I can have? A: Of course not! Mythicals are characters, and you can have as many as you can handle, just as if they were normal characters! But please don't take on more than you can handle, as surely someone else would love the chance to roleplay one.
Q: Can my horse have unnatural markings or exotic colors? A: As of right now, all characters must have normal, realistic colors and markings. Mythicals may sometimes be born with strange markings, but it is very rare.
Q: Do i have to have a breeding thread? A: Yes! This is to keep from members overbreeding their characters. We are not asking for graphic breeding; we don't want that! But we do want a breeding thread, even if it completely skips the entire breeding process! Also, since there is no breeding board/form, we need for members to have a breeding thread so prove their characters did breed and are expecting a foal!
Q: Can I apply to be staff? A: Yes! Go for it! We cannot promise you will automatically be accepted, and most staff go through a brief training/exam period to be sure they will be active and fair. However, we are always looking for new staff to keep the site running smoothly! If you have the time to dedicate, don't be afraid to apply!
